I have found that in audio catylist if I choose "Stereo" I get a much
better sound then if I use "Joint Stereo" (The Default) - Dunno the
difference, but stereo seems to lose the horrid swooshing effect that
annoys me greatly with MP3.

BTW, dubbed to MD, MP3 stands out like anything compared with a WAV/CDDA
transfer. :) great when pushing people away from there MPmans etc.
