Remind me never to lend you any of my gadgets Peter :-) Chucked down a
bus S'pose dropped from a table is tame in comparison unless the floor
beneath was concrete. As for bounced of a bed-- no high G-forces so no
damage I would think.
My Sony R3 has survived hell and high water, well not literally but-- more
than once after a little too much refreshment I fell over (never onto it, but
it did hit the pavement rather hard but cushioned by my quite padded coat
pocket). I'm listening to it as I "speak" now and it's as good as new as
far as operation goes- no odd clicks, no delays in TOC reading, just fine.
And I've recorded well over 100 discs with it and used it as my home unit
too for over 3 years-- I've sure been either damn lucky with that individual
unit or the R3 is built like a tank.
Of course the case is metal (dunno if it's Steel, Aluminium, or the groovy
Titanium-- strong as Steel, light as ummm- less than Steel :-) so perhaps it
could have survived me falling on it? I'm a bit of a wimp some would say :-(
I just hope that if my R3 ever dies, that the replacement R170 (Gaz hopes
optimistically for at least another 5yrs from it) is as sturdy. I assume all
decent MD portie-recorders [ie Sony <g>] still have a metal case?
Cheers,
