Although I've heard nothing but great reviews about these earphones, I
personally found them unimpressive and uncomfortable. Something about my
ear canal must be a bit different from most people, but they definitely
were not worth $300 to me. (And yes, I tried all the recommended
adjustments).
Anyway, I only mention this to encourage people to check on
return/exchange policies wherever they buy their headphones.
(The Sony MDR-E888LP's ended-up being much better for me, and at half the
price. Your mileage may vary...)
