I run MAME [Multi Arcade Machine Emulator] and every ounce of CPU
power counts, and can be seen in the emulated game speed display.
Even a 10% difference could be useful.  The videocard counts too of
course, indeed it's as important as the CPU I reckon.

Quite right, whoever plagues this list by starting these threads ought
to be punished.  I do wonder wot you ran on your old 500MHz chip-
was it Intel compatible or some dubious Mac or worse type thing?
