Yes, i have noticed the thing on the r50...it also works with some radios,
tape players, cd players, etc. it's not always mono, btw...
anyways, if i remember correctly, what this does is attenutate the signals
somehow.
Many fans of the Smashing Pumpkins (iincluding me) call this the "secret
'adore' effect" because we first discovered it on the Adore album....one fan
was listening to the song "tear" when the plug got pulled out. this drowned
out the usually dominant guitars and brought the violins, cellos, etc. to
the foreground....if you ever get the chance, you should listen to "tear"
first normally, then with the attenuation effect...It's very beautiful,
acctually made me cry (and i'm pretty much a machine, hardly ever expressing
emotions)
