I have a MZ-R50 and use a Hoontech Digital NX cheapo soundcard with optical
digital out. Then I use winamp to play MP3s and record them to my MD. In
order to get correct trackmarks between song I have constructed a small
prallell port interface that emulates the remoite of the MZ-R50. I have also
written a plug-in for Winamp that scans for the start of a new song and puts
a signal to the parallell port interface, so that the interface "presses the
trackmark button on the remote", and you get a trackmark. Works great and
should also work for the MZ-R55. Total cost less then $50.
With a little more hardware and software work you can also get titles to the
MZ-R55 since it supports titling via the remote.
