You can insert a high quality dedicated D/A converter into the audio chain.
As we know that ATRAC decoding does not vary between machines, the
differences between a cheap deck and an expensive one [as far as sound
quality is concerned] boil down to the D/A converter. Buying a dedicated
converter is an easy way to improve sound quality, and [should you feel the
need] give you a genuine A/B comparison between CD & MD to show you just how
good MD is.
