Just catching up on the issues that I didn't get a chance to read. Saw Simon's note on titling the recording of H ndel's "Semele" (a great opera, by the way). I agree with wanting to invest the time to get as much information on the disc as possible...it truly adds to one's enjoyment (I remember sitting with the LP jacket in hand, refering back constantly to the list of titles...this is easier). Investing the time in titling (especially in classical music) is definitely worth it. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a propensity for long-winded titles in the Baroque era. I have found that a compromise is sometimes needed. For instance, reducing the illipses from 3 to 2, may just give you the needed bytes; or using slash marks instead. Also, if necessary, I eliminate the recitative and list only the following aria (again, not as useful in recording Baroque music where the recitative is more prevalent, and far more important than in 19th century opera). In any case, I am with you in your desire to see longer titles displayed. It's really annoying not to be able to see the entire title at a glance.
