You realise we've all been arguing the copying thread so long we seem to have lost track of what the real issue was: Whether you are allowed to record a CD onto an MD, then give the MD to a friend. Having flogged the recording issue to death and beyond (which was actually rather stupid because it wasn't the real issue anyway), can we now drop the copying thread? The real issue is whether you can give the copied material to other people, not whether you can record it or not. Assuming my CD is a legitimately obtained copy, and that I am allowed to record it onto an MD: Am I, or am I not, allowed to give the duplication of one of my CDs to somebody who doesn't already own a copy?
