Not my personal choice of words on that one..... I'd go for something a bit
more "colourful".....

What I find a little odd is that you said you can play the CD using Windows
CD Player, and record to a WAV, which would indicate that the drive is
connected properly. Can you hear the CD playing whist recording or not? Have
you checked in the mixer to make sure you haven't set it to "mute" the CD?

Easiest way if your CD drive isn't being friendly is to connect the
Cambridge CD to the "SPDIF In" on the LiveDrive, You'll then need to go to
the mixer (I always use Windows mixer / Play Control) and turn the volume
for "SPDIF-In/Auxillary2" all the way up. You then click on the "Advanced"
button bneat the slider you just moved and make sure "Enable Auxilary 2" is
*unchecked*.

Of course, if you just want to record CDs digitally, you would be better off
building a cheap converter to take the coax output of your Cambridge Audio
CD player and convert it into Optical for your MD. There'll be a project for
this on www.minidisc.org in the projects section, and because there will be
no "sample rate conversion -> mixing -> sample rate reconversion" happening,
you'll actually get far better quality.
