I do not need 600Mb or memory or hard disc to access the data in a 600Mb ZIP
file. I store the 128k lookup table in RAM and reference this as I read
through the file. The value in the file points to a coded sequence in the
lokup table which I then spool tp the requesting program. Not much different
to the way DriveSpace works actually. Yes you have to decompress the data,
but the argument is that this does not have to be fully done before you can
access the files inside the ZIP. I can go straight to the file and just pull
out the relevant section, or sub-section, as required.
