| I am using the NEXcell Nickel Metal Hydride batteries in a Sony EP-11.
| I've been getting great results out of these batteries (3-5 hours of use
| per charge), but after listening to the discussion about alkaline vs.
| NiCad, I'm wondering if there's a possibility of danger to my Sony? Any
| ideas?

Danger to the player? Not likely. The worst that you can reasonably
expect to happen is to have your batteries conk out without warning,
because the battery gague is calibrated for alkalines.

Danger to the batteries? Not likely. Mechanical devices like CD and MD
players do put greater strain on batteries than non-mechanical devices like
radios, but not enough to cause catastrophic failure. The worst you can
reasonably expect to happen is reduced longevity of the rechargeable cells.

Keep in mind that if something unusual happens, it could conceivably cause
the batteries to leak or explode. This usually requires that you do
something especially bone-headed, like attempting to charge batteries in a
unit not intended for that explicit purpose.
