The best solution here would be the first revision of the SBLive! value
with the Hoontech digital I/O bracket. The first edition of the Live!
value had a digital CD input, which would accept digital input from the
CD-ROM drive. The sound card itself maintains a valid S/PDIF signal.
The second edition of the Live! value removed the digital CD input for a
coaxial output. Dunno about the MP3+/X-gamer.
