Yes, the SBLive 'coaxial' digital out works fine with a Sony MD deck (or at
least it does with mine), but (on mine) they use a mono 3.5mm jack socket,
probably to keep connector size small. If you're not into soldering up
custom leads, probably the best bet is to go to Maplin and get a mono 3.5mm
jack plug to phono socket adaptor and 75ohm phono plug to phono plug coax
lead.
I'm fairly sure that you can also then use the JE520 to 'relay' the
electrical signal back on to it's digital output, and thus be able to record
digitally onto your R55 - though I'm not sure why you'd want to unless you
were making multiple copies of the same material.
