Best Buy lemoned out my remaining JE510, so now I have a credit to use toward
other stuff at Best Buy. I was considering another MD deck, though I have
more than enough already, but they carry only the 330 and the MXD-D3 (and no
non-Sony decks), neither of which I want. I'd have considered applying the
credit toward a 630 or a 930, but they have neither. The alternative is a CD
writer, so I guess I'll go for that. I haven't much use for one, but if I
don't use the lemon clause credit it's worth nothing to me, so it's really
like getting it only for the cash I'll need to add. I've no use for a CD-ROM
writer; it's gotten to the point where audio CDR's cost scarcely any more
than computer CDRs; and I figured that after one or two initial coasters I
will get the hang of it and not waste any more.
Can anyone recommend a good place to get a comparison between the Philips
CDR770 and the Pioneer PDR-509? Thanks. (If you have something to say about
those two units, please email me privately at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks.)
Thus ends my history with the MDS-JE510. I had two, and both were lemoned
out. For one Wards gave me trade-in credit toward a JE520, and now Best Buy
is giving me trade-in credit toward pretty much anything they sell. (Should
I take it out in CDs and blank MDs?)
What a footnote in MD lore the 510 turned out to be. It imprisoned discs,
refused to recognize closed write-protects, rattled and clattered, and turned
itself on more often than a thirteen-year-old boy.
