I've owned an MZ-R50 for some time now, but my employer (a Northern California news/talk radio station) just gave me an MZ-R55 for work use as well. Any tips on the 55 vs. the 50? I know the battery life is low on the 55 and it doesn't have a jog dial... And I was getting tired of friction forcing down the "MIC SENS" switch on the 50 into "low". I NEVER NEED LOW SENSITIVITY! ;) It has bitten me in the you-know-where more than once... where I get audio that's hard to dub out of the MD since the volume is so low. So... I decided to try to pop the switch. What harm could I do, right? Boy, that was a dumb thing to do. I took a small, flat screwdriver and put it under the MIC SENS switch. And POP! It came off...but left only bare circuit board showing through the hole that now existed. Bottom line - I had to take the entire unit apart...find the small microswitch inside for MIC SENS, and flip it to HIGH, then put it back together again. Taking apart the R50 is no quick feat - there's something like 8 or 9 tiny screws that all have to be removed. But once I figured it out, it was fine. I used some silver-colored tape to tape over the MIC SENS hole and I'm back in business. I know the R55 has a similar switch, but I'M NOT TOUCHING IT! ;) Mike ----------------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
