Timothy Stockman asked,

| Is anyone still interested in this level-shift feature?

Goodness, yes! A lot of CDs whose tracks I use in compilations are mastered
too softly, and occasionally I use an analog source like audiocassette. I've
never successfully ripped a CD track to hard disk to analyze for its peak am-
plitude (around the time I decided to try it, the audio CD firmware [soft-
ware?] on my computer bombed, and it hasn't read an audio CD since).

My only way of correcting the level when I copy a too-soft CD track to MD has
been guesswork.  The peak hold feature of the MDS-JE520 is too imprecise;
watching for "over" to light up is the same, and those meters sample too in-
frequently.

So yes, I'd love a feature that can calculate the precise amount of boost
needed without relying on a recalcitrant computer. If I could get the
computer to cooperate, it wouldn't be so essential for me.
