The plug in power supplies a voltage to power a electret condenser mike, like this one http://www.tir.com/~liteways/Mandolin.html#Microphone If you use a mike that uses a battery, then the plug in power doesn't do anything because the battery supplies the power to run the mike. There is also information on the md comunity web page. look under construction porjects.....
