That depends on the mic. The modification needed would probably not save you
anything in terms of space and would just mean the battery on the MD runs
down faster. IF it's a mic with a high power requirement (like my PZMs which
require 48V) then there's no chance, you need a power supply system (ie
mixer or phantom power box).
