I've had almost exactly the same experience. When I first got my recorder, I
bought a few Sony, Maxell and Hispace discs. As far as audio quality goes
(someone earlier mentioned that Hispace sounds worse) all sound exactly the
same, as the theory would suggest. In terms of sturdiness, they're great -
not one of them has broken on me yet, though i've had a couple of those
Maxell cases break (no discs so far), yet the HiSpace discs are consistently
less expensive than the other brands. Personally, I never object to
something which is better or equal AND inexpensive.
