Jack:
>Yes, Memorex minidisc are really poor on bass and high frequency...

David:
>>Incredible (very literally). MD is a digital storage medium. As long as
>>ones stay ones and zeroes stay zeroes, it doesn't matter (and the disc
>>doesn't know) whether they're part of the representation of a bass sound,
>>a high frequency, or a middle frequency.
>>
>>What you said might be true of a recorder's ADC, or of a recorder or
>>player's DAC, but it cannot apply to a digital storage medium.

I am surprised that David fails to recognize why Memorex MDs sound so bad. A
close examination of any Memorex MD will reveal that it is 0.02 mm thinner
than other brands. This lack of space (or Hi-Space) seriously constricts
frequency response at both ends of the spectrum. Hence, Memorex MDs have
poor bass and treble response. In fact, those in the know feel they are only
suitable for recording AM radio!

Seriously, I'm a big fan of Hi-Space MDs. David is, of course, correct on
all counts. I like Hi-Space MDs not only for their quality of construction,
but also for their flip cases and inserts which allow you to write tons of
info (if you care to do so) about the contents of the MiniDisc.
