I was thinking about a damage in the magnetical orientation and not in the
inner structure of the MD, but this is also a possibility.

No, it is impossible to _erase_ an MD with a magnetic field.  But a
sufficiently powerful EM field could warp or crack the metallic layer,
rendering the disc unusable.
