If you can hear the difference between a good quality $19 Sony cable and a
$100 Monster cable, the effect is psycho acoustic not real.
BTW. When Sony originally came out with the MZ-1, the optical cable that
they offered had a very thin insulation (kind of like the cables that you
get from Core Sound). But the last time I ordered a Sony cable, even though
the price was the same, the cable had much thicker insulation and much
better connectors. No this did not effect the sound quality. But it might
help from cracking a fiber bundle.
