Most lines that come out of computers have a choke on them to keep the
RF interference they produce inside them.  You can get a ferrite bead
choke at an electronics store and try running the cable through it and
see it that helps.   Also, try repositioning the recorder to another
location, in front of, beside, or behind to see if anything changes.
