A 5 Watt flashlight, a 100 Watt table lamp, and a 10,000 Watt kleig light.
All are on. All have the value of 1. All have different intensitites.
If you were to dim the 100 Watt bulb down to 50 Watts output, it would
still be on, still have a value of 1, but it would be less intense than it
was at 100 Watts. That is a digital signal (like linear PCM) on an analog
medium (like the aluminum layer of a compact disc).
