I'm not going to quote what you wrote because then I'd be accused of quoting. As for
myself, I always try and edit out as much as possible when I reply to a post. I even
remove the footer about UNSUBSCRIBE (now that's something that annoys me).
As far as decks; I reached a decision about MD a while back. First (and this is just a
personal choice) I don't have the time to title everything). Second, the difference in
sound quality between a deck and portable is probably not going to be noticeable to 99%
or more of the people.
My point. I sold my deck (that was sitting around collecting dust) on ebay. I have
two portable recorders and am perfectly happy living with the more versatile
portables. Just get a portable CD player with a mini digital output.
If you are into some heavy duty stuff and need a $2000, deck go for it. But if you
just like to make nice plain old music MDs, the portable is fine.
If you want to play it through your stereo system and don't like loose cables hanging
around. Make a little black box from parts you can get at Radio Shack. Set it along
side your stereo system. On the back end have a set of RCA stereo cables coming
directly from a female 1/8" jack on the front of the box. If you want to be real fancy
have two female RCA jacks on the back and use a standard interconnect to go into your
receiver.
Does all of this sound nuts to do?? Yep! I'd just leave the loose cable with a male
1/8" stereo plug and when I want to use my MD, just plug it in.
Of course if you have a digital input on your receiver, since no portable has a digital
out, then it pays to get a deck with a digital output that corresponds to the digital
output on your receiver.
If all of this sounds like I wasted my time writing it and you wasted your time reading
it, you are absolutely correct. If I want to waste my time, that's my business. But
if I wasted your time, I DON'T have a right to do that, so I apologize
