After thinking about the post explaining a little about HDCD CDs, I realize
that in order to make HDCD MDs, you would have to equip the recorder with an
encoder as well as a decoder.

I have a feeling that even if the chip were not large, the cost of installing
such a device into an MD recorder would greatly increase what people already
think (myself included) too high a price.

But if HDCD cd players come with a digital output that have decoded the cd,
the MD copy should still be superior to copying a "plain" CD to MD.  So no
matter what, if this technology becomes mainstream, everyone is going to
"win".
