Hey all,
I use my Sharp MT15 for live recording of concerts (w/ a pair of
SoundProfessionals Binaural Mics). I usually end up looking
obsessively @ the recording level meter to make sure it's not
overloaded and not too low. This requires having the recorder itself
within easy view when I'd much rather it be hidden. What I'm
wondering is if there are any Sharp portables that have the recording
input level controls (and the input level display) on the remote. A
backlit remote would be even better. (note: I'm not talking about
the Headphone Level Controls). If such a remote exists, would it be
compatible w/ the MT15? Lastly, is there a way to order a
"replacement" remote ("oops, I lost my remote") from Sharp? I
checked their website, but it's full of flash and light on actual
content.

Here's a tip for others that may need to see the screen of their MT15
(or similar sized MD). I picked up a "Performance Super Zoom"
Magnifier and Light for the gameboy (model 092-GBC) at Electronics
Boutique. A small amount of carving of the plastic w/ an X-acto
knife and the player fits perfectly. If you go to
http://www.123av.com/Search.html and search for "092gbc" you'll find
a page showing the thing I'm talking about. It may not be the most
elegant thing, but if you're trying to recording in a dark club and
don't have a backlit LCD, this thing works pretty well.

Thanks,
     /george
