They have some unique properties .. by using the hi level
speaker inputs to the sub, the resulting output to the satellites
will not contain anything the sub can play. This has the effect of
relieving your satellites of the stress of playing in the low
frequencies. I have personally used this setup with my sub for
a friends party. They didn't have a stereo so I brought my M&K MX-200
and 2 of my 4 rear home theatre speakers (Mission 760iSE).

The 760's are small, bi-wirable bookshelf speakers, at home they
get driven with 110W THX amps, but even then the 760's reach a limit
before they start to distort. When passing the signal through the
sub first they could actually be driven harder. This is because the
sub was filtering out everything below the set cross-over point (which
from memory in this instance was set as high as 80Hz). Sub-sat
combinations have their place ... I don't normally recommend them
unless they suit the persons living arrangements (and budget).

If you are interested in sub-sats look at NHT or M&K.

Enough of the non-MD content.

Cheers GC
