MD related: My old Adcom preamp/tuner had lost a channel. Are there any
MD/tuner/preamp units? (I have a great amp.)

If I wanted to keep a fabulous power amp, bi-amp / line-level crossover
setup or pair of active speakers going and wanted an "all-in-one" solution
which featured MD, I would use the Onkyo FR-435 digital-age music centre.
This unit has a CD player, an MD deck and an FM receiver all in one box. The
unit has the following connectors: two line-level inputs for VCRs, DVDs,
turntables hooked up via an RIAA box, satellite radio boxes, etc; a tape
loop to allow one to record to and play from an outboard recording device;
an optical input and output for other digital devices like DAT decks,
computers and digital-radio tuners as well as --- wait for it --- a pre-out
/ main-in loop labelled "PROCESSOR" for feeding the signal out to a power
amplifier like yours or bringing in a surround-sound processor or graphic
equaliser into the equation.

During normal use, the PROCESSOR loop is closed up by a pair of removeable
jumpers which means that the FR-435's power amp is used to drive passive
speakers. But, in your case, you would remove the jumpers and hook your
power amp to the FR-435's PROCESSOR OUT connectors.

I hope that this solves your problem,

With regards,

Simon Mackay
