On a computer you can copy DVD's if you have the right software. Right. You can (of course) record the audio from a DVD via the analog outputs of the DVD player. And, on a computer, you can digitally "rip" the contents of a DVD (both audio AND video) just as you can an audio CD given the right hardware (a DVD-ROM drive) and the right software (a DVD ripper).
