Yes, and at the time I forgot to mention that an MD recorders already exist
with USB hookups...although they are a big more pricey, and a bit less
portable than an MZ-R90. The only one I know of is the MDP500 from HHB.
I'm not sure how it works exactly, if it's real-time or not, if it does
track seperations, whatever.
I imagine USB will land on cheaper players sometime soon, but it may be a
year or more. The purpose of USB would be (as I see it) for music you make
yourself on a computer, and for internet downloaded music. Both of these
things are much more popular in the US than anywhere else, and MD is not as
popular in the US as it is in Japan (where the players are made), and in the
UK, both of which places aren't as into internet downloaded music as the US
is.
So really Sony, and Sharp (and whoever) really wouldn't be addressing the
wants of their most important customers with USB as much as they would be
with the more popular demands from MD fans: Higher quality sound, fasionable
looks, smaller size (although I don't see how they can get any smaller), and
durability.
This will change once the Eurpoeans, and Japanese start to buy more
computers....when *is* that going to happen anyway? :)
Either way I would like to see USB on MD recorders, but mostly because it
brings of the posibility of faster than real-time recording from any source
and not just CD (via a CD->MD combo player).

"Let me explain a couple of things. Time is short. That's the
first thing. For the weasel, Time is a weasel. For the hero,
Time is heroic. For the whore, Time is just another trick.
If you're gentle, your Time is gentle. If you're in a hurry,
Time flies. Time is a servant, if you are its master. Time
is your god, if you are its dog. We are the creators of Time,
the victims of Time, and the killers of Time. Time is timeless.
That's the second thing. You are the clock, Cassiel."
