Sony's MDLP decks cannot; like other Sony MD decks, they stick a moment of silence between each two tracks in shuffle mode, though they manage to segue smoothly in program mode. They can, however, play one shuffle cycle and stop on their own without starting another. My Sony decks behave and my Aiwa portable behave as I just described; my Sony portables don't interrupt between songs in shuffle mode but after finishing a shuffle cycle they start another unless you stop them.
