I have a Sony r900 and it has g-protection
I think it is just something similar to anti shock minidisc disks - ie it
prevents the lack of data due to vibrations - and so minimises the need to
use the buffer - and so essentially makes the buffer seem larger.
Put it this way - if I vigouressly shake my r900 whilst playing - not
throwing it around but shaking it quite/very hard - I can't get it to skip -
my arms get worn out first. So I am sure it is better than ur esp protection
