I have had an MZR-900 for several weeks and have been very impressed with
LP4 mode. Being able to fit 80 CD's onto 12 MDs is pretty darn good. I have
to agree that stereo separation suffers but I use the MD for in the car,
background music in my office and on planes and with a lot of background
noise you just can't tell the difference.
With LP2 mode you have to listen very hard to spot any differences if any
with normal mode. So I record any favourites for quiet time listening in
LP2. So as far as I'm concerned, the drop in quality is a minimal price to
pay for the added feature of LP2/4.
