MD: Dolby and Minidisc Patents (was: Minidiscs)

My understanding (from talking with Tadao Yoshida, Sony's Minidisc
Project lead for the original MD system), was that though Sony
developed ATRAC independently, Dolby was later able to show that it
included prior art claimed in Dolby patents. The result was a
licensing agreement.

This sounds very interesting and I'd love to know of a reference for it!
