Then may I suggest you send the extra information to Rick Woudenberg who can
add it to the existing MDCP FAQs.

It's up to you guys to do whatever you want, of course, but I don't see the
point of re-inventing the wheel. The MDCP at www.minidisc.org is the most
informative, best organised, and best updated & maintained MD resource that
I'm aware of anywhere on the internet, probably anywhere in the printed
English language.

Isn't it simplest just to be able to go to that one resource and see - or be
linked to - everything MD related? Why supplant what MDCP already does? To
be honest the suggestion seems a little ungracious and unfair to the work
that Rick Woudenberg et al have done with MDCP.

An earlier post suggested that everyone on MD-L should get together to
create the FAQ. It's a nice idea, given the expertise lurking on the list -
but I suspect (from previous experience on collaborative projects too
numerous to mention) that it won't that easy. If "everyone" actually does
get involved, there will ultimately be differences as to what
should/shouldn't be in the FAQ, what the facts are on certain things are
etc. Ultimately you will need an editor, and Rick already does that - and
with his not insignificant experience.

Don't take this as a flame - your intentions are great, guys - but when you
look at MDCP, it seems better to me to put the effort into perfecting the
existing resource than duplicating/competing with it

One final comment I would make is perhaps that the initial subscription
e-mail to MD-L have a link to the MDCP FAQ, or perhaps have a"top ten FAQ"
in it? That might deal with the MD-L issues...
