Sony has announced "Net MD" which will allow you to encode ATRAC or
ATRAC3 files on PC and download them at high speed via USB to MD.

Could this mean that editing of MD Audio, such as erasing segments of
material or doing "Scale Factor Edit" level adjustments or naming tracks can
be done on a PC's HDD.
It could also mean that compiling CDs to MD could be done in this form:
1: Rip CD tracks to HDD using NetMD software
2: "Clean-up" tracks using NetMD editing software (trim off "dead-air"
between songs, "level-out" songs)
3: Name songs with NetMD software
4: Move finished songs to NetMD-capable MD recorder.
You have a perfect compilation MD which "segue-shuffles" well in Sony car
and portable MD players!
