The closest Sony outlet to me is Lake Elsinore [though not actually IN the
lake] - also about a 2 hour drive. When I called the guy said they don't
usually get MD stuff in very often and couldn't give me any price info on
the phone for the pro deck they did have in stock.

The refurbished ones are sold at a considerable discount from retail.
When the R30 was selling for $289, I bought a refurbished one from Sony
for $189 and I havehad no trouble with it. ( except the stupid end
search feature, but that is a design flaw)
