My HHB MDP500 will infrequently lock-up in any mode, most in often in record mode. The unit will not respond to any front panel key sequence while locked up. The only remedy is to remove power and remove the battery pack to shut down the unit. After this it behaves fine but the recordings may be messed up. I experienced this with 2 brand new units received from HHB Canada both with Version 1.2 software. The response I received from HHB Canada was that neither they nor anyone in the UK head office has heard of this problem before. Recently, I've made contact with another MDP500 owner who has experienced the same problems. Note that since buying this deck I have only used it approx 6 times so I would say the problem is not too rare.
