Perhaps many people don't realize they make them. When new computers started
coming out with on onboard USB ports, people who had older computers had to buy
a card. So perhaps many people don't realize that if they have "built in" USB
ports they should buy a hub if they need more.
HP makes it Pavilion computers using mini ATX boards. These boards usually
contain a sound card, modem and network card on the mother board. The advantage
is that you can configure a system inexpensively. But HP has it's card and
memory slots buried so you have to take half the computer apart to get to them.
When you drive bays reside on a removable rack that must be taken out (as well
as the side and top of the computer) just to upgrade memory, isn't that
ridiculous?
But then again, you can't upgrade anything on a mini disc recorder. Most local
service centers will not even touch them. They are often sent back to the
manufacture's main service facility.
Shortly after I bought my Sony MZ-1, a disc refused to eject. I took it to the
local authorized shop. But they had received a bulletin from Sony to return
them directly to Sony. I think that they did an upgrade to the firmware as well
as getting the disc out. I know that there was some kind of upgrade mentioned
in the bulletin they showed me at my local shop.
