For the second time, my MZ-R70 has inadvertantly messed up a disc. The first time (a few months ago), I apparently activated the record slider as I removed it (in its Severed leather pouch) from my belt. It proceeded to overwrite the rest of the disc with a single blank track. So this would not happen again, I decided to do take 2 actions: (1) turn on the "hold" switch before putting the MZ-R70 in the pouch and (2) setting the "write protect" tab on each disc. Last night, it stuck for the second time, destroying the UTOC on a second disc. In this case, I had the "hold" engaged, so none of the unit controls whould have been active. Unfortunately, I did not have the "write protect" tab set. (Although I usually remember, I frequently add tracks to existing discs, so once in a while I forget; this was one of those times.) Starting from where I had stopped playing, it overwrote silence with many track marks. When I discovered this, I turned off "hold" and started to erase the superfluous tracks. After the first one, it churned for a while and said "disc err". When I got home I tried the disc in my JE520; it said C13 and C14 disc err and ejected the disk, so I guess its so screwed up it can't be reused... I think I'll look into buying a play-only portable to replace the 'EP11 that was ripped off a while back. Using a portable recorder as a player seems to be to risky! ----------------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
