You have a
GO to Home Depot or a good hardware store and get a plug in tester that shows if a receptical in wired correctly. They have three prongs like a plug and there are three neon lights. They cost about $15 or less. All the do is show if the recptical is connected properly and has power. Some will also test to see if a GFI works propely too. Plug that into the two recepticals and you will find that one of them is wired incorrectly. Before you make any changes in the wireing to correct it, makes sure the power is off for the receptical you are working on. There are three wires connect to a three prong receptical. Black is or should be the HOT wire, and it connects to the small flat prong. White is neutral and it connects to the large flat prong Green or bare is Ground and it connects to the metal electrical box and the round grounding prong. It is possible that one of your extension cords is plugged in backwards also. Hopefully neither the reciever nor the computer has been damaged. Usually it is just leakage current, but enough to activate the protection circuitry involved.
