Yes, mine came with a daughtercard that had both optical SPDIF in and
out.  I think it only had coax out, but I don't remember for sure.  1st
one I got had a non-functional toslink out.  I tried the Midiman drivers
and various other drivers, but I just couldn't get it to work.  So I
returned it and the replacement worked perfectly right out of the box. 
I was kind of surprised because I've never bought anything brand new
that was defective, but luckily the replacement works great and has for
many months.

CMI8738.

I believe there are generic CMI8738 drivers for Linux that should work
with it.
