No, you don't understand; the issue has already been discussed on this list, but I'll spell it out again. SoundBlasters have traditionally been deprecated because their internal representation uses a fixed rate, 48khz. Thus when you input the usual 44.1 it's converted to 48, and if you select 44.1 out it's converted back to 44.1.
