If this is not a first time install of MDaemon 6.8x on your computer you should add the following lines to your local.cf file which is located in the \SpamAssassin\Rules\ directory (use notepad): bayes_ignore_header X-Spam-Status bayes_ignore_header X-Spam-Level bayes_ignore_header X-Spam-Checker-Version bayes_ignore_header X-Spam-Report bayes_ignore_header X-Spam-Processed auto_whitelist_factor 0.5 auto_whitelist_file_mode 0666 Only add the lines if they are not already present. o The default auto_whitelist_path entry in local.cf was changed. In previous versions the entry was created like this: auto_whitelist_path [MD]\SpamAssassin\auto_whitelist This creates the auto-whitelist database files in the root SpamAssassin directory which works but is not ideal. You should change this line in local.cf to: auto_whitelist_path [MD]\SpamAssassin\auto_whitelist\auto_whitelist This creates the DB files in the intended directory. You should also move (not just copy) any auto_whitelist.* files in the \SpamAssassin\ directory into the \SpamAssassin\auto_whitelist\ directory (create the directory if needed). MAJOR NEW FEATURES - ------------------ o none CHANGES AND ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES - ----------------------------------- o The default local.cf file was altered to exclude X-Spam type headers from the bayesian learning process. I'm not sure if these headers are excluded by default within the SA code (they might be) but it doesn't hurt to explicitly exclude them. Also, two headers required for auto whitelisting were added to the default local.cf file. o If right click on Bad Queue message (Queue/Stats Manager->Bad Queue), additional options will appear: Black List, White List From, and White List To. If select BlackList, the email address from the FROM header will be added to the Black List. If select White List From, the email address from the FROM header will be added to the White List (from). If select White List To, the email address from the TO header will be added to the White List (to). o By default, ListPrune.exe will not delete processed messages. If you want ListPrune to delete messages it has processed please set the following keys by manually editing the ListPrune.ini file: [ListPrune] PruneFolder=Yes (default No) NotificationFolder=Yes (default No) Delete=Yes (default No) o LDAP verification data has been added to the MD_Gateway struct and API functions (but the docs are still not updated - check the MDUserImports.h for struct changes and new #defines). o MDaemon will create default bayes_path and auto_whitelist_path entries for the local.cf file if they are found to be missing and if these features are activated. Also, the directories will be created. Open and close the Spam Filter editor once to have MD do this (if you need to). o The Spam received counter will show a percentage of emails that were spam. The precentage is computed by dividing the total number of spams by the total number of messages received. False positives and negatives are not factored into the computation.
