MDaemon GroupWare clients will continue to function as usual after Outlook Connector is installed on the server. o To begin using Outlook Connector your users must have the Outlook Connector plugin software installed and a new Outlook profile created with an Outlook Connector account. The plugin installer has been placed here on the MDaemon server: \MDaemon\WorldClient\Html\OutlookPluginInstall.exe Your users can also download and install this file from within WorldClient by navigating to their WorldClient Options page. A link to this installer will be available. Creating a new profile and Outlook Connector account depends on the version of Outlook being used: For Outlook 2000, first be sure you are in Corporate/Workgroup mode. This is configured within Outlook itself under Tools | Options | Mail Services > Reconfigure Mail Support. Set up a new profile by going to the Control Panel | Mail dialog. Click Show Profiles ... then Add... On the first dialog that opens select "Outlook Connector for MDaemon" and click Next. The Outlook Connector configuration dialog will appear, populate as needed with your MDaemon account information. Next click Add... again and select "Outlook Address Book" then OK. Be sure to set the "Show profiles" dialog to use the appropriate profile - it does not use the new one unless you tell it to. For Outlook 2002 or 2003, go to Control Panel | Mail, and click Show Profiles. Click Add.., and give the profile a name. Next select "Add a new email account" and click Next. Select "Additional server types" and Next. Select "Outlook Connector for MDaemon" on the next screen and click Next. The configuration options for your OC account will open - populate as needed and click OK. Be sure to set the "show profiles" dialog to use the appropriate profile (or at least prompt for profile when Outlook starts) - it does not use the new one unless you tell it to. Once the Outlook Connector account is up and running, the user's folders will be downloaded from the server into Outlook as each one is opened. IMAP users will be able to access their mail since it's stored on the server, but POP3 mail likely only exists in the user's old Outlook PST file. You may want to add the PST to the profile or import the mail folders from the PST. If Outlook Connector is uninstalled, reconfigure Outlook to use a profile that does not include an Outlook Connector account. MAJOR NEW FEATURES - ------------------ o Mail folder support. Mail folders can now be shared without needing to use an Outlook IMAP account. Permissions can be configured for the mail folders. o Single Outlook folder hierarchy. With an Outlook Connector account, users do not need two sets of folders, one for their shared GroupWare folders and one for their IMAP email folders. Users will have only one Inbox, and sent messages will be saved in their IMAP Sent Items folder. o Better Outlook integration. Users do not need to synchronize after changing something in Outlook before it's available to other users. Changes made in Outlook are performed in real-time on the server.
