Why not link it against libumem? I am not being facetious, although
I have been known to be when someone tells me that the problem stops 
when they run snoop or truss and I suggest an analogous solution.

The libumem package not only is an excellent diagnostic tools, but in
many (or most) cases it offers a performance improvement.
