[MDT-OSD] Copy SMS Logs step in State Restore

What is the pupose of the copy SMS logs step in state restore?
MDT 2012, sccm 2012


cmd /c xcopy /E /C /I /Y %_SMSTSLogPath%\*.* %OSDStateStorePath%\SCCMLogs

Where would the logs go if it is bare metal and there is not state store
path?
