MDT LTI ZTIDrivers.wsf is smart enough to insert any appropriate drivers into the deployment process for the full OS install.
*however* If you have a Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 syspreped image, then it is different matter, MDT does not have a way to *inject* drivers during *deploy* time. Instead you should add the driver to the image itself. MDT has a step to perform that action during sysprep and capture. a) add the Intel Driver to a new driver folder b) add the folder to a new selection profile c) in your Task Sequence --> State Restore --> Imaging --> Sysprep Only --> "Add mass storage drivers to sysprep.inf for XP and 2003" (get the hint :^) add the new selection profile here. ( think this is correct, but it's been several years since I've touched ZTIDrivers.wsf, I’ve been trying to suppress it). Once you’ve discovered the device ID (eg. PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1234*************), you’ll need to search through the INF files that are in your driver package for the appropriate device ID. Once you’ve discovered the correct INF file, you’ll have to find the association between the device ID string and the “friendly name” of the device. This can typically be found as a variable in the [Strings] section of the INF file. Once you’ve got the friendly name of the device, you can go back into the Apply Driver Package step, check the box to install the mass storage driver on pre-Vista operating systems, and then find the device’s friendly name in the drop-down boxes. The upper drop-down box represents each mass storage INF file, whereas the bottom box represents each of the unique devices that are controlled by that INF file. You can use PowerShell to search your driver package for the appropriate device ID, once you have it. I know... I know... XP is terrible. I've gone to HP's website and downloaded all the drivers, imported them and then created a driver pack. Next, in my TS I install the driver package and select the mass storage device (here's the problem) so it can load the rest of the drivers. After the image process the machine gives me a 0x0000007b BSOD and goes into a boot loop. I'm selecting the wrong AHCI driver but I can't find the correct one. Any ideas??!?
